The Mix/Master Process
Sending Files
To get started, you’ll send me your tracks, usually in the form of a Logic session, Protools session or individual WAV tracks. I’ll also ask you to include any reference tracks and notes on vibe to give us a super clear target to aim for with the mix.
Mixing Prep
Once I have your files, my assistant and I take a little time to organize everything. Tracks are checked for alignment, phase issues, and consistency, then routed through my gear so the sessions run smoothly. This prep ensures all attention can go toward the mix itself — no hunting down files or cleaning up noise.
Optional: we can hop on a quick call or Zoom to discuss your vision and any creative input you’d like me to consider before the mix begins.
Mixing
This is where I bring your song to life. I balance levels, shape tones, and add effects to give each instrument and vocal its space while emphasizing the energy and feel of the performance. I focus on translating your vision while applying creative decisions that make the track exciting and cohesive.
If you want, I can join a call during the mix to give input in real time and answer questions about arrangement, dynamics, or vibe.
Revisions
Revisions are about refining the mix until it’s exactly where you want it. Best practices:
Focus on what isn’t working rather than prescribing solutions — I’ll figure out the best fix.
Gather notes from everyone involved in one place before sending them.
Send a single, organized message per round, ideally a simple bullet list in song order.
Up to three rounds of revisions are included to make sure we land on the final sound.
I’m happy to do an attended session (in-studio or virtual) for the first round of revisions to collaborate more efficiently.
Mastering
Once the mixes are approved and exactly where we want them, they’ll be mastered and ready to upload!
Final Delivery
Once the mix is approved, I’ll finalize it and prepare your deliverables:
Final Mix: WAV/AIFF, 24-bit
Optional Stems: For remixes or alternate uses
High-Quality MP3: For quick sharing
Mastered Version: If included, optimized for streaming, radio, or physical release
Files are delivered via Dropbox, Google Drive, or WeTransfer with easy download links.
Scheduling & Payment
Typically, I schedule one day per song for mixing, within a blocked space on the calendar based on our planning.
Prep and organization are included upfront so nothing slows the process.
Building in buffer days keeps the process stress-free and allows time for careful listening and creative decisions.
Extending the project past scheduled dates can affect timing and cost if it overlaps with other projects.
Payment terms: 50% deposit to schedule mix dates, final 50% when you send me files.
